HOW TO GET TO OSU:
Greeter Service
Click here to apply for Greeter Service
If you arrive at the Oklahoma City airport on December 29 through January 2, a greeter from the Office of International Students and Scholars (ISS) will be in the baggage claim area to assist you in arranging transportation from the airport to the OSU campus. The cost for each van ($97.00 plus $3.00 for each additional passenger after the first) is equally split between passengers and billed directly to each student’s Bursar Account. Please complete the electronic Greeter Service form before your travel so that ISS greeters will know when to expect you. The Greeter Service will be available from 12 noon to 10:00 p.m. on the above dates. If you arrive after 10:00 p.m., you can take either airport express (blue van) or a taxi to Stillwater.

Transport Service

The ISS office offers a convenient method for students to travel to and from Oklahoma City – Will Rogers World Airport, and Tulsa International Airport.

If you require transportation and you do not have a colleague or friend to assist you with transportation to either of these airports, please complete the online Transportation Request Application form. If your request is within 48 hours of the requested transport date, you should contact Ruth Loffi at 076 Student Union (405) 744-5482 directly to make arrangements.

The following information will be required before a booking can be completed:

  • Your name and OSU ID
  • Your US local address and local Phone Number (if available)
  • Travel details including flight number, time of arrival and/or departure, number of persons traveling with you and how many luggage/bags you will be carrying.

The charges for this service will be billed to your Bursar Account and are as follows:

Car $90.00
Mini-Van $150.00
Van $150.00

If we are unable arrange transportation due to short notice and unavailability of ISS-OSU drivers, you should refer to the services below.

If you need to cancel a request, please give as much notice as possible by calling Ruth Loffi at (405) 744-5482. If we do not receive confirmation of a cancellation either verbally or email, and we proceed with your request to reserve a vehicle and organize a driver, you will be responsible for the full amount of the booking.

Travel Advice
If you have any problems while traveling, feel free to ask people for advice. In the airports and bus stations of large cities the Traveler's Aid Society provides help with problems. Pay telephone costs vary in the U.S. For many local calls, pay telephones in airports cost 50 cents (50 cents = two quarters). If you need telephone assistance, dial "0". Directions for long distance calling are posted on pay telephones. International calling cards can be purchased at airports’ newspaper stands. Watch your luggage and belongings at all times while in airports or bus stations.

Tips
Generally, you do not tip anyone when you provide your own service. In a restaurant the tip is usually 15% of the bill. In an airport or hotel a porter or bellboy usually receives $1.00 plus $.25 for each suitcase.

Baggage and Mail
Baggage that accompanies you on an airline must have your name and address clearly labeled on the outside of each suitcase. It is recommended that you make a list of contents of each suitcase, bag, or box in case an article is lost en route. Be sure your baggage is tagged to your final destination. Should your baggage become lost, immediately report it to an airline official. Overweight charges on airlines are expensive. Personal belongings that do not accompany you should be mailed through the postal system, rather than shipped. Purchase insurance for packages you send to the U.S. against loss or damage. You may send small parcels to yourself by addressing them to your name in care of (c/o) Office of International Students and Scholars, 076 SU, Stillwater, OK 74078, USA. You may also use that for a temporary address until you are settled in Stillwater and have your own.
